The 3.9 mile trail starts out in gorgeous mossy forest at the Camp Sheppard Boy Scout Camp.and feels more like a rainforest. The parking lot was full due to a WTA work party and the 2 bathrooms (pit toilets) are open (1 did not have toilet paper). We did this hike counterclockwise, which is the shortest way to get to the falls. There’s a pretty .6 mile Moss Lake loop to the right of the amphitheater. There are quite a few trails branching off the Snoquera Falls loop so I found my paper map and the Gaia app helpful. The falls didn’t have much water, but the cliffs are impressive. The creek crossing below the falls was fine - just a couple of inches of water. I was glad to have my waterproof boots for the water crossing and the rocky upper section of the trail. The trail beyond the falls as we started down is more narrow and had about 3 minor rock slides just a few feet across with loose rock. The WTA trail crew was up near the falls working, a huge shout out to them - thank you.! We actually enjoyed the lower half through the moss forest with a wider dirt trail than the upper rocky section near the falls. No bugs and bit chilly in the morning in the shade of the forest. No snow or mud on the trail even after rain the night before our hike. Enjoy!
