I meant to get this trip report in sooner, but better late than never. I hadn't been on this trail in a few years and remembered enjoying the mossy old bridges on this trail, a couple of which were sketchy even then. Well, now it is so overgrown and has such expanses of wetland taking over that it was impassable hiking with 3 small dogs. If I had boots I might have been able to follow the faint trail. There were a couple trees down, but they were easy to get around. I only hiked maybe 1/3 (if that) of the actual trail though.
I started at the pullout at Clear Creek and hiked up to where the trail meets the dirt road and then cuts back in. Where it cuts back in it was all water, mud and skunk cabbage back into the forest as far as I could see, so I just took the road from there. I think because you can drive to this one, not many people had walked the trail over the years. I caught a glimpse of one of the mossy bridges from the road and it looked in pretty bad shape.
After hanging out at the lake for a bit, I tried to find that end of the trail and follow it back. You might be able to do this, but it did disappear now and then with all the new spring growth so it wasn't easy to follow. I ended up hopping back onto the dirt road and followed that back to where I'd left the trail on the way in and getting back on the trail from there.
This was a sweet little trail, and hopefully it can be restored. If you don't want to fight bushes and go wading, I suggest driving up or walking the dirt road to get to the lake for now.
