We started from the Tunnel Creek trailhead. Make sure to use Google maps because Apple will not show this route. The road has a few deep potholes and some loose rocks but they could be avoided and our sedan made it without a problem. The hike starts off very gentle through the forest along the creek. At 3 miles the trail crosses a log bridge and starts the climb. It was pretty relentless uphill after that with a few sections that have a steep grade. We climbed up to the peak and found that the peak trail was a bit brushy in places and also has some loose rocks near the top. Poles might have been helpful because this section is very steep. There were wildflowers blooming and the views were pretty incredible. We could see Rainier, Baker, Glacier and many of the North Cascades clearly in addition to all the Olympic peaks. Definitely worth the push to the summit. There are quite a few flies from the lake up to the summit and they were annoying us quite a bit at the top, so be prepared for that. Definitely recommend this one on a clear day!
