The road to Watson Lake is snow-free, a bit bumpy but obstacle free to the trailhead. As typical for most mountain roads above 4,000 feet, the path is a rough dirt road with potholes. The trail to Watson Lake is completely snow-free as well, with only a few small patches of snow left. However, there are some blowdowns along the descent to Watson Lake, with two or three large trees blocking the path. You'll need to climb over or navigate around them. Otherwise, the trail is open and ready for camping and backpacking. The mountain heather is beginning to bloom, and the meadows are lush and vibrant green. Made me think of spring but at 4500 feet. Beautiful!
