Took a friend and her pup to check out this trail after work. No fly pole, no destination, just a nice after-work hike on a great trail. The trail is in wonderful shape, bridges are always a bonus, and a new sign at the trailhead.
So let’s talk about poop. As I doubled back to pick up the dog’s business, I caught the corner of a big pile of horse doo. Then I realized that the only crap we’re not required to pick up is the biggest crap of all – horse crap! How is it no problemo if you just let a metric ton of horse dung go out on a trail, but I get the stink eye from everyone on the mountain if I don’t pick up our dog’s quarter-size duke? What happened to those little doggy-bag things they put on the horses, like when you take a coach ride at Central Park. I like horse, but why are they exempt?
Anyway, always a fun trail with deep forest. Made it to the Wilderness sign above the second lake.
Be safe people
