Gravel portion of the road in is long and has sections of washboard, but otherwise pretty smooth. The Scatter Creek crossing barely had any water flowing today. If you're driving a lower clearance car, just take it slow and please pull aside for cars behind you to pass. The trailhead parking area is small and has some deep holes that a sedan would probably have difficulty navigating. We were ok in an outback, though.

The trail up to the pass isn't all that exciting, you are in the trees most of the way. You gain elevation at a decent rate, but it never felt difficult. Closer to the top, you start getting views across the valley of Cathedral rock, Mount Daniel, and surrounding peaks. There are a handful of blowdowns to navigate. Most are fairly easy to step over. One has an obvious minor detour. Once you reach the pass, you get a sweeping view of the Cradle and the red rocks this area can be recognized by. We took the short trail down to Sprite lake, which was pretty easy to follow. The lake was small, but very pretty, imo. Just one other party there while we visited. The water was pleasant for a quick dip to cool down. There are ripe huckleberries along the lower portion of the trail, and higher up, the blueberries get better and better. The berries around the lake were the best - big and plentiful.
