Beautiful trail that goes through a cedar grove as you go up a ridge, and then it opens up a bit as you go into the canyon with Emerald Lake. The lake doesn't have much water, but I could see how the lake would be green. the trail name is Hoodoo Canyon trail, but there is no hoodoo. There is still cool rocks along the hike. I only saw 2 suitable camping sites. There were 3 fallen trees across the trail.

Wow... does the lake normally turn into a mud puddle like that by the end of the season?

I know this was a really dry summer, but I've heard it typically does drop quite a bit. I bet this is a much greater extent though.
