The Rabbit Brush is in full boom and is abundant in this area. The hike was nice, with a good breeze. I did the clockwise hike where you head straight at the parking lot and go up and around the hill. I don't think one way or the other is easier. Halfway through a dust storm blew in but it wasn't too bad.
The trail is in good condition but I'd still wear decent hiking shoes/boots as there are some areas with questionable footing (loose dirt/rocks).

Maddy on Wallula Gap - East
During the massive ice age floods 15,000 years ago, the Wallula Gap was a narrow spot in the drainage path for the floods and created a backup lake that was the size of Puget sound and up to 900 ft deep. The dimensions boggle the mind. If you don't know about the ice age floods then I suggest looking into it. It was one of the most spectacular geologic events ever discovered and it was right in our backyard.
