Trip Report

Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park — Monday, Oct. 27, 2025

Central Washington > Yakima

Lots of visitors on the trail today. And it was easy to see why. I'm an E-burger and walked this trail nearly everyday this season. Lived here for 35 years and never recalled so much Fall foliage before. While it's normal for the trees to all turn, the Kittitas Valley is well known for its fairly regular high winds. A normal Fall presents nice colors but with the wind, it never gets much of a chance to fully present itself as it's continuously blowing away. Same with Spring. We haven't had much wind at all for a week or so and wow! It can do this?

Anyway, looks like continued light breeze presence this coming week so now is an awesome time to get your Autumn fill. And if you're a fellow E-burger, get your butt down here and take in what can happen when it's actually calm for a while. Who knows when it will happen again.
