This trail offers expansive views. Not the usual "green tunnel" I've been in lately. I enjoyed that very much, seeing horizons in all directions is nice for a change. Arrived at TH about 10:00am. Since this is a State Park trail there is a nice restroom in the parking lot. This trail is only about 6 miles and maybe 900 feet of gain so it's pretty much for everyone. A bit windy the day I went, temps about 45 degrees but no rain in sight. There are several interpretive signs that detail some of the history of the trail and surrounding areas. These include some of the history of early settlers to the area and some of their homesteads are still standing, visible in the distance. There is one stream to cross but it's nothing, a bit more than a "step over" maybe, depending on time of year. I saw no wildlife. This trail has been in use for many, many years according to the signs. From settlers and Indians, and way before that. Getting the plentiful fish from the Columbia River and taking them back to villages, etc. If you're looking for some wide open vistas, this one has that. Also some good views of the Columbia. This trail is east of The Dalles, Oregon on the Washington side of the river.
Enjoy!
