Headed to Dungeness Recreation Area for a final camping trip, to enjoy the last few days of sunshine. Since the days are getting a bit short to squeeze in all 11 miles of the Dungeness Spit hike, this time we explored the shoreline to the west. This part of the shore hugs the base of the bluffs, so heed the warning signs and keep your distance from them. We actually saw a rockslide (sediment slide?) happen on the beach while we were there. Well, first we heard it, then turned around and saw a cloud of dust settling around a pile of large sandy boulder chunks that hadn't been there a minute ago. The danger is real! I recommend going at medium/low tide when you can walk along the water's edge furthest from the bluffs.
