Ira Spring Trail - Mason Lake — Friday, Dec. 12, 2025

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Washout at the 1.5 mile mark of FR-9030

I was surprised to find FR-9030 still open, and proceeded with caution due to all of the newly-downed branches on the road. At the 1.5 mile mark (of the road itself), there's a washout that likely will prevent a regular car from driving over it, so I think a high-clearance vehicle is warranted (I'll attach a photo).

The trail itself was, overall, fine. There's some new erosion in places, and there was a lot of running water on the trail, and a couple of newly downed trees (easily navigated), but overall, it's fine.

It's quite wet in and around the Mason Lake basin, and gets way worse between Mason Lake and Island Lake, but you probably knew that already.

Amazingly enough, [literally] all of the snow has melted. I ran to Sir Richard's Pond and it was snow-free there too. I also ran part of the way to Defiance, also snow free. The entire Ira Spring trail is clear.

As expected, Mason Lake is swol (as the kids say). The water level is wicked high, and the outlet is a torrent.

No snow anywhere.
