We love coming here when we’re short on time, and don’t want anything crowded. Lots of wiggles to get out over winter break from school so brought my 12, 10, and 5 year old here. We saw many ducks (wood ducks and mergansers), fairy houses hiding trailside, lovely painted rocks, mushrooms beyond their prime, and delightfully noted that the beaver lodge we saw when we first came here a few years ago is still there today. My daughter said it is likely “one of those multi-generational beaver lodges that is now a key part of this lake ecosystem and the original builders aren’t alive anymore.” The exercise equipment strewn along the trail is also fun. I recommend this short hike in all seasons!
