If you don't like climbing over or going around the occasional fallen tree, this hike is not for you. At least not now. And there was one stream crossing, on W Tiger RR grade, when I was glad for my poles and for having pretty good balance still for someone not young.
But it was perfect for me today when I didn't have much time to hike nor drive far, and did want to do something different but not steep, especially on the descent.
From Trad Lake TH, TMT to K-3 "unmaintained" to W Tiger RR grade to easy descent down W Tiger 3. 5.5 mi, 1500' gain. A big loop on a little lollypop stick. W Tiger RR Grade is least maintained, with that one stream crossing and 2 fallen trees that were a teeny bit awkward to get around.
I started at Trad Lake TH rather than the bottom of Cable Line for a little less I-90 noise. Unfortunately, it was still pretty loud till past Cabe Line intersection and climbing a bit of altitude. That was the worst part.
Aside from W Tiger 3 trail and TMT up to Cable Line, few folks on the trail.
Happy Post Winter Solstice, Days Getting Longer Now.
