Trip Report

Capitol State Forest - Capitol Peak — Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia

We hiked from the same spot as described in the Dec. 20th trip report. We took the C-7000 road to the Divide Trail South, and then we took the C-7300 road back to the C-7000 briefly until it intersected The Grunt. On the way back, we took C-7000 all the way down to the car. This lollipop was about 7 mi round trip.

The trail was in good condition, although there were large and frequent puddles. It was never an issue to just walk around the edges, though. Snow started around 1800 ft, and there were a couple inches of snow at the top, but our group had no issues hiking just in trail running shoes.

Lovely day!
