My friends and I hiked to Dirty Harry's Balcony and Dirty Harry Museum to celebrate the New Year! The road to the trailhead has no obstacles. We arrived at the parking lot at 8am and there were barely 4-5 cars then.
We decided to first go to the balcony. We needed to use our microspikes about 1.5 miles into the hike and had to keep them on throughout. We then hiked to the Museum where you can find the abandoned truck. We spent a good amount of time taking pictures in the museum. We wondered how the now all rusted logging truck had gotten 2000 ft above the highway :) This hike has incredible views of the valley and nearby snow covered mountain peaks.
Most of the trail is well marked and maintained but to get to the Museum, there was a little bit of route finding to do. Other than that, a fantastic time with my friends and a great way to celebrate the New Year!

It is hard to imagine that these upper trails used to be drivable roads. They weren't very well built so water erosion has really taken a toll.
