Trip Report

Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls — Friday, Jan. 2, 2026

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

A very soggy Friday hike! Got to the lot after 10am and only 8ish cars there. Made it back by 3:15pm or so and not too many more cars there.

Did Bridal on the way up. After the last stairs down to the falls, it looked like the last bit of the trail was up a rocky riverbed? I didn’t see anyone else at the falls, so not sure if I took a wrong turn somehow!

After getting back to the split and up to Serene, much of the snow had melted compared to what yesterday’s trip reports described. I didn’t use my microspikes on the way up to the lake, but a pole was super handy for sketchy stream crossing and slippery spots going up. The last 0.5 mile or so was packed snow, so I put my spikes on at the top to help with slick spots for the 0.5 mile snowy downhill.

The rain also picked up on my descent, so my feet were sloshing in my boots by the time I made it to my car. Thanks goodness for wool socks and boots - they did what they could until they were completely saturated from rain and basically walking down a creek for the last 1.5 mile. Still good times!
