Road 92 to access trailhead was plowed (we passed the plow that made two passes) and had active logging trucks. We put our snow socks on our tires.
Two cars at the trailhead (overnighted and very snow covered)when we arrived. No porta potty, ugh. 30 degrees
3 60ish year old women took 2 hours to snowshoe to the hut. The trail had been groomed by a snow cat a day or two before. Snow was 4" deep where groomed, 6"+ in other areas. We broke trail. Snowshoes are a must. Wonderful slow grade up for the most part. No wind, no falling snow or rain. Slight dustings snow like the Grinch's Whoville.
Slight wind on arrival at the hut at 11:45. 28 degrees Paths of trodden down snow around hut and to the toilet structure. The porch was free of snow. Everything about the hut was in working order.
Left the hut at 12:45. Windier, did not want any exposed skin. A family of 6 left the hut before us and two people had just come up. So the path down was packed. Took us 90 min to get down.
A small pine tree was down across the road. The family ahead of us had 2 saws and a small axe and cleared the tree in 20 min.
