Deception Pass State Park - Headlands / Rosario Head / Lighthouse Point — Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

An absolutely beautiful day at Deception Pass. I wish we could have stayed all day. We arrived at noon at the Rosario Beach Parking area. About half full. Bathrooms clean and open. We hiked out to Lighthouse Point with a stop at the playground at Bowman Bay. We saw about 10 seals, lots of birds, a handful of other hikers. The wind was warm, so really felt like spring. Daisies are usually always in bloom in the grass here, and they were today. Scotchbroom is also starting to bloom. The trail is fairly easy but does have some rocky areas on the few inclines. The beach was also nice to walk. The ponds on the way to Lighthouse Point have evidence of beavers chewing on trees. 3.5 miles total and about an hour and half.
