This is an urban walk; lots of places to rest and eat, mostly sidewalks to navigate but interesting activities on the south end of the lake. I first did the loop via 2 wheels having lunch at the "Cricket" a dinner which is no longer in business. Riding a bike is an easy way to do the loop once construction on Eastlake Avenue is completed in a few years.
Lake Union is a working lake with float planes, tour boats, numerous marinas with lots of cyclists, runners and walkers. The Eastlake area is in transition, with major road work being done on Eastlake avenue; I suggest avoid trying to park or drive on Eastlake as it is currently a maze of orange cones and construction equipment.
There appear to be two areas you can safely park and begin walking; the first is Gas Works Park with free parking or as an alternative paid parking (meters) near the China Harbor restaurant. The meters are odd in that you pay but receive no receipt. I did park in a stall without problems after paying but think the Gas Works Park parking is a preferable option.
The area around the "Center for Wooden Boats" is interesting with work on what I think will be a traditional indigenous peoples boat.
Walk is generally pleasant with two wheel traffic having its own set of lanes.
