The Gorge 400 trail from Herman Creek is quiet and beautiful. I loved how you can see across the river to all the other potential hikes (Wind Mountain, Augspurger Mountain, and Dog Mountain). Yes, you can hear the highway noises from time to time, but the trail winds in out of the edge of the highway that you can forget you are right above 84. It was a perfect rainy day hike - just enough tree cover to not get soaked! The Herman Creek trail head was decently full for a Friday (future rainy) morning when I arrived, but I saw no one on the trail I took. I hiked all the way to Wyeth campground and explored the two waterfalls there. I had read another trip report about trees down on the trail, but the trail was in great shape - thank you to whoever cleared it! I saw the remains of a landslide, but that also looked like it had been maintained. The route was just over 10 miles with the side quests to the fails and the campground.
