A weirdly balmy and pleasant February day for a long hike up the new trail then down the old trail. I started the trail wearing three layers, ended up packing the top layer (fleece pullover) about a mile into the trace, and then felt overdressed and too warm with two layers through the end of the hike. Seriously, this felt like a late-spring day.
Slightly overcast with gusty east winds at the top. Other than that - and, I suppose, the lack of snowpack in the Cascades - nothing to stress about.
The trail is snow-and-ice free - through tomorrow, if you believe weather reports.
