When you cross the I-90, Granite Mountain looks so bare of snow that you wonder if there is any snow at all on the trail, but there is actually quite a bit of snow coverage on the actual summer route. Once you break out of the forest, it is mostly snow on the trail (though not necessarily in the surrounding vegetation). Spikes are useful. Spring conditions on the boulder ridge, with holes here and there and occasionally you need to boulder due to lack of snow coverage. The ridge got a bit slushy on the way down already and is probably worse later in the afternoon.
