My hiking group hiked to Poo Poo Point from Issaquah Community Center today. It was 40 degrees with clear blue skies when we headed down the Rainier Trail at 9:25. Our out and back hike clocked in at 9.4miles, following Rainier, High School and Poo Poo Point trails, a great winter hike on a beautiful day. The entire trail was debris free, with a few muddy areas in low spots. Buds and green foliage are emerging on much of the undergrowth plants. We saw a few bird species but that was it for wildlife sightings. Trail traffic was moderate and several folks were hanging out at Poo Poo taking a rest break and enjoying the gorgeous day. Once at Poo Poo we checked out the Bob Rivers Memorial Bench and watched a few paragliders launch, celebrated a birthday, took in the territorial view and listened to a members Moth Story. We packed up after our lunch break and were heading down the trail at 1:00. Once we got back to the paved Rainier Trail we were walking in a mob of recently dismissed high school students back to our vehicles near the community center. Another fantastic day out in nature with friends.
