Trip Report

Taylor River - Otter Falls — Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Trail damage 3.1 miles in

Road: past the pavement has some very large potholes.

Caution: At 3.1 miles from the TH (at the first creek past Martin Creek) there is massive damage to the trail requiring a bit of scrambling to cross. (Hikers are fine but horses would be blocked and bikes would be hard pressed to cross.)

I moved some rocks off the trail for future bike rides when it is warmer. It was cool today except for the nice sunny spot at the falls. I clipped quite a few face-swiping branches for us tall people. I only got my saw out 2x and cleared one blowdown but had to leave the bigger ones (3 or 4). On the way up, I managed all the creek crossings without a pole (but used it on the way back and it made it much easier). The newly built spur trail to the falls is much appreciated with stairs down to Lipsy Lake and the route provides new viewpoints of the falls. No snow but temps were chilly (30's, maybe low 40's). Although it was a clear day, at this time of year I was in shade much of the time especially in the morning. It was fun to see the wood fungus ice (forgot the real name). I saw about 16 happy people on trail (over half in one group) but it felt very isolated (plus no cell coverage).
