Rattlesnake Ledge — Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
View east towards the watershed

This is WTA trip report #2762 for Rattlesnake Ledge. I arrived at 9am and was able to score the last open space in the lower parking lot. There were plenty of other people milling about or headed off towards the ledge, which was completely socked in by low clouds. I had a brand-new iPhone to test out but it wasn't looking good for getting any views on this trip.

The trail was damp but in excellent condition with no obstacles of any kind. I shared it with lots of other people and dogs headed in both directions (no cat or parrot sightings however...), but that's to be expected with this trail as it's more of a city park with attitude than an actual wilderness trail. Fortunately most people were evenly spaced out, although there were some very large groups mostly consisting of school-age kids. Everyone I encountered was polite and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Upon reaching the first ledge I lucked out and arrived during a 10-minute window when the clouds parted just enough to see the top of Mount Si as well as an opening down to Rattlesnake Lake below. I didn't spend much time there however as the ledge was getting populated pretty quick and I didn't want to be the one getting knocked over the edge by someone's errant elbow. I continued on to the second and third ledges, but by then the clouds rolled back in and there was little to see.

The trip back down was uneventful aside from watching the endless train of people headed up. Fortunately the trail is wide enough that it allows two lanes of traffic in most places. I was back to my vehicle by 11:15am and cars were lined up a quarter mile down Cedar Falls Road.

Mount Si and Teneriffe poking their heads out of the clouds
What there was for a view from the second ledge
Even less so at the third ledge

You're tally on the number of trip reports for Rattlesnake Ledge got me curious. Decided to look at some other absurdly popular hikes in the area. As far as I can tell the winner was Mount Si with 3527. Mailbox peak ( old and new trail ) with 3317 trip reports. Amazing for a pretty mundane hike. Lake 22 was just over 3000.

Colchuck was only 1510 but you probably could add on most of the 917 Enchantments hikes to that tally.

When my son was 20 years old he told me that if his friends know about a hike then it's going to be very crowded because they all get their hike ideas from Instagram etc.

I'm not surprised about Mount Si as I think most of us got started hiking with that one. I'm pretty sure I did as a young teenager. Of course back then I wanted to do the popular hikes because it increased my chances of running into a cute girl. Now I just want to find somewhere away from everybody.
