This should be a fat bike and ski trail but currently the snow is melting fast and patchy. The mud can be thick when the sun is out. I was able to manage with trail runners but muck boots would be helpful. Great sunny views of the Methow Valley, surrounding mountains Raven Ridge, and the semi frozen Pearrygin Lake. There were plenty of rocks to explore and climb on midway up trail. Crowds were light there were just a few other parties of folks with dogs out. If you park at the ranch you only need a discover pass and not a sno park pass. You could cross the road down to the lake as well. Beautiful day out in Winthrop there’s plenty of room to roam as long as you don’t care about the April snow conditions in February.
