It was an absolutely beautiful, quiet, lovely time on this trail. We didn’t do the entire thing, only went about 3 miles in before turning around. That was just our preference, not because anything was wrong. We had to park near the highway due to the last portion of road that leads to the entrance being closed with ice and snow, but that didn’t extend the trek too much. No need for snow shoes at the moment and I think those would have made things more uncomfortable. We wore micro spikes which I do recommend, hiking poles would’ve been a little nice but not 100% necessary. If we had gone farther than 3 mile snow shoes may have been beneficial past 2.75 miles in.
