North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

After my daughter and I struck out on two obscure hikes near Acme, I decided to check out the log over the Nooksack River that had kept this on my list forever. Unfortunately, after driving the middle fork road for seven miles we came to this barrier. Fyi so you don't take a long drive to disappointment. Still a nice day to be outside.

If you walk a short distance past this, there are two areas that need repair. One isn't too bad but the second one is going to keep this road closed for a very long time I fear, similar type repair that has been needed for the road to Skyline Divide for the last five years.
And the log that was used to cross the river........long gone now according to earlier report.

That's a bummer, I guess it's true not to put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Glad I did Ridley Creek a couple years ago. Still waiting for Skyline... thanks for the update. Happy hiking!

Wondered where that was. I did a couple of work parties up there, Bell Pass TH, did the Ridley Creek to Mazama camp (over the sketchy log bridge) once too, Bummer! Glad I got up there then. Nice hike and would have made a nice backpack. One thing about getting old, I did a lot of trails before the roads washed out or the hiking hordes found it

I'm not surprised you've been here; at our age we've both beaten the hordes to most of the best hikes. The challenge for me now is to find something I haven't been on! :-)
