Trip Report

Mount Washington, Change Peak — Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
This was much harder than it appears!

Our original idea was a lollipop loop up the Mt. WA trail, then taking a left onto the Great Wall trail, connecting to Ollalie bike trail and then up the forest road to Change Peak.  From there it's a nice walk around the rim of the bowl below Mt. WA.

Snow started near the turnoff onto Great Wall, plenty of tracks beating the trail down nicely.  Once we joined the Ollalie bike trail it was about 2' deep and the tracks did not head towards the Change Peak road.  We broke trail for awhile but realized we really should have snowshoes.  We turned around and used a different chunk of the Ollalie to get back to the main Mt WA trail, in the bowl.  From there it was a straightforward snow hike to the top of WA.  Spikes were pretty essential for the way down, although the snow had turned to mashed potatoes in the sun.  Lots of snow glopping onto our heads from the trees.

Wonderful view from the top!
