I hadn’t done this hike in years, and I continue to think it’s “just ok.” Of course, I was fogged in at the top, so that might have contributed to my mixed feelings.
Also contributing to those mixed feelings were: the presence of motorcycles, the clear cuts, and the many unleashed dogs and poop bags distributed along the trail.
It was still good to be out in the woods, and the views were quite good along the clear-cut traverse area.
The restroom about 1/2 mile below the high point was open and stocked; I didn’t check the parking lot loo.
Oh, and don’t forget your Discover Pass. I stupidly left mine in the other car, and I didn’t find a way to buy a pass at the trailhead. (I even tried stopping at Twanoh State Park to get one, but I was too early, and it was only open to campers before 8 a.m. No luck at the local gas station, either.)
