Trip Report

Reiter Foothills Forest - May's Creek Sky Valley Vista Loop — Sunday, Mar. 15, 2026

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Viewpoint with a bit of a drop

Just one annoying tree fall right by the bridge that fell down the trail so you have to do a bit of climbing over, around, and through it. Otherwise there was just a little bit of snow on the trail and only a few wet spots. We were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. Lots of little views and one nice viewpoint at the top, some blooming trees. Seems to be popular with mountain bikers with some bike only trails, but it was just us today. Bring a map or a track because it is fairly well marked but it does have some splits and crosses a logging road.

Road/Parking: Paved all the way with a nice little parking lot with room for a dozen cars. No toilet. We were the only one a little before 10 and one other vehicle pulled in as we were leaving around 11:30. Nice sign at the TH with a map and an announcement from the a mountain bike group that they do work parties the second Sunday of the month.

Trail: Most was nice tread that is well maintained. Nice switchbacks with a few steep/slick areas. There was holly hanging in the trail in a couple of spots and some recent tree branched that we cleared a good number of. Only a few wet spots and none of them were mucky. We were impressed by the pedestrian bridge. We went on the vista loop and did not continue to the waterfall (on Alltrails and Gaia but not on the TH map). Lots of creek and bird sounds :-).

The viewpoint was fairly similar to Index Wall, but easier trail and less less of a view of Baring. Best lighting is afternoon.

Stats: We tracked 3.75 miles, 550 ft elevation gain/loss, 1.5 hours moving, 1.75 hours total. We are moderate/fast paced hikers who hike weekly.
