Iron Peak Loop, Iron Peak — Saturday, Jun. 20, 2009

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway

Saturday was a fine day to do Iron Peak in the Teanaway. Road conditions, for my German sports sedan, were a little rougher than last season but not bad at all. The trail to the pass includes some blowdowns and avalanche damage, easily passed, and only one small, inconsequential snowfield en route to the summit (with snow free walking most of the way up the ridge). No need for Yaktrax or gaitors. Hiking progress was significantly slowed by the profusion and variety of wildflowers.
