I have heard so many good reports on this newly reopened trail, I thought today was a good day to give it a try. We encountered fog driving up US 2, from the Lake Stevens area. Made a quick stop at the ranger station and they said “a little bit of snow on the trail.” The road up to the trail head had some potholes up to the junction where you stay to the right. From there the road is great. Only two cars at the trail head when we arrived just after 09:30. The trail was in excellent shape with just a few small muddy spots. Hit light snow at about 4,000'. The snow depth was no more than 3" or 4" near the top. The trail was a pleasure to hike with a smooth bed and mild consistent grade. At the top meet three other hikers. The clouds hide the views, but we stayed there for a while and had some outstanding views of surrounding peaks. This hike no doubt will become more popular as time goes on. Meet a dozen or so hikers on the way down. A great hike and a great day.
