Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Not too far from the trailhead.
Beautiful day for a hike. Only one other car at the lower trailhead when I started around 8:30. Trail was clear and well maintained, though at the summer/winter trail split, the only arrow pointed to the summer trail. Only 4 people on the way up. Snow in the big chute is nearly gone, though I was able to glissade down for about 200 (?) feet or so. Exciting in shorts! Flies were very pesky. Spent a nice lunch on the summit with the folks from the other car @ the lower lot. Both lots filled up during the day, with many people & their dogs & kids coming up as I was going down. Glad I went early on a Friday, and not midday on Saturday. It'll be packed tomorrow.
Really pretty orchids, these were pretty regular on the lower trail.
The grind up the meadow.
Hood Canal in the middle distance, Rainier lording it over everything in the far distance. Beautiful view in all directions today!
