Trip Report
West Fork Agnes Creek — Saturday, Sep. 14, 2013
Central Cascades > Entiat Mountains/Lake Chelan
Hi,
I'm erict on cascadeclimbers and have trip reports there. I'm not a hiker but a climber, so my hikes are all to or from climbs. I was soloing climbs on the south end of the Ptarmigan Traverse before descending ICY Creek to the West Fork of Agnes Creek to the PCT.
The bridge over the creek to get into the West fork of Agnes is gone and this trail hasn't been maintained for years. The whole valley is overgrown with giant slide alder, devils club and nettles. There are also beaver dams and a ton of Elk along with swamps and old growth ceders. It was a Cascadian death march for me to get out of there and I'm soft peddling this to an enormous degree. i'm a former Army Airborne Ranger and a cascade climber for 30 years. Take me at my word and stay out of there unless you're headed in with Bear Gryills.
