Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Looking towards the lookout shrouded in clouds
Trail started out muddy and wet and quickly transitioned into slush and a dusting of snow. Snow depth gradually increased through 4400' where we entered full on winter. About 2,000 feet from the lookout the path through the snow (that pretty closely followed the summer trail) ended leaving us to wallow through knee deep powder. Clouds enshrined the lookout so we turned around for the day. There were still some good peeks through the clouds that definitely made the trip worth it. Link to our blog post with more pictures below. We felt comfortable with the avalanche conditions but it won't take much more snow before it's a much larger concern. The cold, wet weather was also tricky to dress for but layers and plenty of Gore-tex helped! We didn't bring our snowshoes but they would've been helpful up top (but we would've had to carry them for a majority of the time).
