Trip Report

Lake Serene — Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
- There was no snow on the trail. - Some prior reports have indicated that there are streams running down the path - we were able to walk completely on rocks without having to walk in the streams. - The lake is almost completely frozen, which means that eating lunch by it is similar to standing by an open fridge on a cold morning... Better to have your lunch on the way down! - Hiking to the base of the Bridal Veil falls is a gorgeous, not-too-hard detour. But I would recommend doing it on the way up as you will not want to do it on the way down :) - Despite the easy-looking 2000 feet elevation gain, the hike is a grind at times. Luckily, there are occasional views along the way to encourage the journey and the lake is worth every step! More photos from the hike: http://cs-girl.livejournal.com/288913.html
