The Tooth — Monday, May. 4, 2015

What a perfect Spring day to climb The Tooth!
I got in at the last minute on a Mountaineers climb so a decided to take Monday off and head into the mountains (can you think of a better to spend a Monday? I can't)
We were a team of six, three leads and three students. Unlike on weekends, there wasn't much competition for space today, we pretty much had the mountain for ourselves - we met a solo climber, another guy who came up the scrambling route, and a party of two who were climbing as we were rappelling down.
Everyone did great on the three pitches up and the rappels down, including the two absolute beginner students; this was their first climb ever (and my first official climb with the club).
The basin up to the mountain base is still covered in snow, which makes it much easier to hike up, compared to the boulder hopping you have to do in summer. The snow was soft, but we didn't posthole much. There was very little snow on the other side, on the way to Pineapple pass, and the climbing route was entirely free of snow.
We left the Snow Lake trailhead at 8:35AM and got back at 6:10PM; beyond that I didn't keep time. The weather was excellent most of the day; clouds moved in after we reached the summit and it looked like it might rain, but the rain did not materialize and eventually the clouds dispersed.
The dental hygiene is complete!

HEY!
How can I get involved in something like this? I am new to climbing, though not new to backpacking, and I want to learn to do this and do this EXACT climb with mentors/experienced people!

Climbing
You can join one of the many alpine clubs active in the Puget Sound area. I am with the Mountaineers, which is the largest one, but there are others. they all offer some sort of basic climbing education.
Good luck!
