Trip Report
High Divide - Seven Lakes Basin Loop — Saturday, May. 23, 2015
Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
We didn't do the loop - we camped at Lunch lake for two nights and did a day trip to heart lake. It is an absolutely stunning hike. Lots of beautiful lakes, great view of Mt. Olympus, it's blue glacier, and the whole mountain range from the high-divide trail.
There is no snow in the trail until lunch lake. From Lunch lake to heart lake, there are a few spots of snow - but very easy to cross, nothing to worry about. It'll be gone in a few weeks too. There were some bugs - it was not too bad, but it's likely to get worse in the next month or so.
We saw a lot of wildflowers -- some of the ones that we knew were Lupine, lots of avalanche lilies, glacier lilies, shooting star, paint-brush, trillium, etc.
Surprisingly, we didn't find a lot of crowd -- there were campsites available both nights at lunch lake. Also, we didn't know that there are quite a few other campgrounds -- few canyon creek ones, one at round lake, one at clear lake, at least one on the high-divide trail, and so on.
