I wanted to do an overnighter with my son, so I gave him some trail choices and he pick this one. He stated that he wanted to do one that he had already hiked before. I think next time all the choices will be new hikes for him. We left early and were at the trailhead around 9:30am. We saw some people along the trail including a few backpackers on their way out. The trail is in good shape with a few soggy spots that are pretty easy to navigate. Lots and lots of wildflowers along the trail. We felt a few raindrops here and there, but it never rained consistently on us, thankfully. We set up a hammock and laughed at the aggressive chipmunks never giving into their cuteness they went away with empty bellies. The skies look a bit gloomy in the morning so we packed up and headed out around 8. We saw no evidence of any other backpackers at the lake. It was a great Father, son outing and highly recommend every father or mother takes their kid or kids out on overnighters! -Ken
