Trip Report

Little Wenatchee River — Friday, Aug. 7, 2015

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
The big pool for swimming and fishing along the trail.
This short trail leaves from the Lake Creek Campground near the Little Wenatchee River in one of the valleys west of Lake Wenatchee and is approximately 16 miles from the state park. We camp annually in this secluded, forested camp that has this beautiful, short river trail the departs from it. I've been going up here for years and usually walk the trail every year but this is my first trail report for the trail. FSR 65 while bumpy in places is paved the entire way with the last 3+ miles being one lane with pullouts. The trail leaves from camp and watch for the signs to guide you the right way at first as there is a ton of detritus on the forest floor at the trailhead/ campground mostly in the form of pine needles. Soon the trail goes to the right and becomes a clear path. There are a few blowdowns across the trail but all are easy to maneuver over/ around. The river section of the trail is fairly short but you will be greeted by some of the clearest water and stunning pools you will find in the Cascades. Most of the trail goes through shady forest before a short climb up to a ridge after leaving the river. From the ridge you get a decent view of the valley. Right before the ridge is another sign, go right to the ridge view and if you continue down this trail you will return to the camp/ trailhead. If you opt to skip the ridge view you can carry on forward back to FSR 65 then turn right to head back to the camp/ trailhead. This is a great trail if you just want to get out and stretch your legs, go for a swim or do some fishing. People of all ages and abilities shouldn't have too much trouble completing its length.
Another pool off a short side trail early along the trail.
