Trail is in good shape, a couple of big branches from the recent wind storm on the ground. I hiked this with my wife and kids. We carried our 1 year old, but my 4 year old made it to the kiln and back on his own. It took us about 4 hours car to car, so we were only moving about 1 mile per hour. This seems to be my 4 year old's standard pace these days due to his curiosity and wanting to stop and poke things.
There are a few places where you will want to really hold on tight to your little one's hand on this trail, but those sections don't last long. The trail is almost entirely flat with little to no gain.
Still quite a few blackberries to be had, my boys were gobbling them up. We saw a lot of slugs and one baby frog, which thrilled everyone and especially my 4 year old. This is a great family hike, close to town, and easy on the parents too.
