Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Amabilis Mountain Snowshoe by Rebecca Lavigne
Following the weekend's heavy snowfall, Amabilis Mountain felt like a winter wonderland. About halfway up we left the fog and cloud cover behind for some amazing views of the trees as well as peaks near and far. We made a loop on cross-country skis by heading left at the Y, finding our way through the trees at the top (thanks to the skier who led us through there), then connecting to the road that led back to the Y down the other side. There were rough tracks to follow the whole way except the bit at the top through the trees. The trail was last groomed to the Y about a week ago. It was fun to make our way through the deep snow, though by the time we were back near the bottom the snow was starting to feel like Cascade concrete. Saw just a few other skiers - and no snowshoers - up on the mountain, though the lower trails at Cabin Creek were busy. Note that the trailhead parking lot requires a sno-park permit with a groomed trail sticker this time of year.
