Had an absolute blast yesterday at the Pacific Northwest Outdoor Women Group meetup at Heather Lake. There were about 30 of us I would say that met up to bring canned good for donation and meet other local inspiring women who love to hike and explore. All of us met at the trail head off of the Mountain Loop Highway between 8:30-9 AM and started hiking at about 9:30. The travel time to this trailhead from my house in Tacoma is about 2 hours.
After meeting a few of the ladies and doing a raffle we set off to the lake. It was cloudy and not too cold at all. Unless you were standing still, haha. The trail was pretty easy going the whole way up. There were a couple of blow downs but nothing that posed a problem. About halfway through it was a winter wonderland. So peaceful and absolutely gorgeous. The snow near the end of the trail wasn't deep at all and was easy to walk on. There were some slippery parts and snow packed areas where you had to maneuver through but nothing crazy as long as you were careful. Some people put on their spikes but I handled just fine without.
The weather was perfect, the company was great and it seriously was exactly what I needed. Special thanks to the PNWOW group for putting this together, it was by far a day well spent.
