The rim trail is closed until May 15th because the golden eagles are nesting, and people above scares the adults off the nest. The trail down inside the canyon is open. A trail from the campground on Beaver creek road wanders through miles of golden flowers, and burned areas, past Campbell lake, all the way to the canyon.. many free camping areas along the road.... Open country on Dept of wildlife land, and ridgelines with very little brush, since the fire, provide roaming in every direction. we wandered for miles...... no ticks
