Trip Report

Spada Lake - Culmback Dam — Monday, May. 30, 2016

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
What a beautiful day to make a new find in the PNW. Started at Culmback Dam parking lot, went across the dam and continued straight for 2.7 miles from the parking lot to the overlook. I had heard about the overlook, but wasn't sure what to expect. What a great find with a gorgeous view today! There's a long up hill section on the 1.2 miles leading up to the overlook, but the "trail" is a service road that is in excellent shape. We went with our almost 4 year old and he hiked about 4 miles of the 5.4 mile round trip. Just got tired legs and needed some "shoulder time" every other mile or so. If you're looking for a non-technical hike with a beautiful view as a reward this is it. Road to the dam is in great shape; several cars parked at various points along the way, but we had the overlook to ourselves.
