The trail head is two turns off I-90 and much easier to find than the directions on this site make it seem. Take exit 20 and go south on 270th then West on 79th, then follow till trail head. I did not think the road was as bad as others have said either, I was able to drive 15 mph in my Jetta to the trail head. My pup and I did the Around the Lake Loop and went down Swamp Trail to the Powerlines, then doubled back down Swamp Trail. The trails were all in good condition and a portion of Around the Lake is paved and wheelchair accessible. The trees that were mentioned being down in March are all cleared now. There were roughly a dozen cars in the parking lot, but we only came across three sets of people on the trails. There is no "legal" access to the lake besides a few look-outs where you can see it through the trees. However, you can see where people walk down to the lake anyways. It is a little disorienting when you get there, as there are a lot of trail heads all in one place, but there are also big maps right off the lot.
