The road up was rough, but passable for most trucks and SUV type vehicles (some potholes were significant and unavoidable). We definitely would not have made it up in our 350Z without roughing up the undercarriage. We drove a Subaru Outback today and didn't bottom-out even when some deep potholes surprised us. The parts of the trail we worked on were in fairly good condition though quite narrow in a few spots. The bugs weren't bad if you kept moving, but if you stayed in once place for long they'd find you. I'd recommend wearing long pants, long sleeves and gloves, as there were quite a few places were the brush along the edge of the trail was quite close and I understand that contact with cow parsnip is not a pleasant experience. We did some work to improve drainage, cleared a bit of brush from the sides and widened the trail in a couple of spots, but we cut the work a bit short due to possible thunderstorm activity. I understand that there will be a crew coming in to cut the brush back from the trail sometime in the near future. We'll certainly be back to hike the trail to the pass.
