The Mrs and I made it to the trailhead arround 11am. Parking found not too far from the trailhead. We started out and began our way up to Dock Butte. The initial part of the hike is shared with Blue Lake but the point were you part ways is well marked and we went to the right for Dock Butte. The trail in most places is in descent shape but there are a few places that water has shown how quickly it can erode and create some deep gullies. Just be careful, some of the areas that have exposed clay, can be pretty slippery. We were always in the presence of flies and other annoying little flying bugs but they didn't get hungry until our return. We made it to the top and the view was enormous, powerful, and just more than I could have imagined. 360 degrees of pure awesomeness.. we would have stayed longer but the annoying flying things were pushing us to leave. Coming back down we missed the trail that takes the nicer easier path down and instead got on the drainage which is much steeper and not a lot of fun. This was a great hike for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Beautiful photos, hanks for sharing, got a question, in your report you said missed the nice easy trail coming down, are there two trails to the top and down? or it is a loop?

One is the official trail and the other is a drainage that looks like a trail. My wife and I took the official trail up and no big problems. When we left the Butte, there is a tricky crawl over some large rock and right after that fun we missed the trail that goes to the left ( easier) and took the rapidly descending drainage/trail. Both meet up so no worry of getting lost.
